AMA endorses Alfred Asiedu Adjei

Accra, Aug. 9, GNA – The members of the Accra
Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) on Wednesday overwhelmingly endorsed Mr Alfred
Asiedu Adjei as the Presiding Member (PM) of the Assembly.

The newly elected PM secured 52 votes,
representing 96 per cent of the 54 votes cast by the assembly members present
during the polls.

Mr Adjei, 40, is the Assembly Member for
Avenor Electoral Area and a social worke

Accra, Aug. 9, GNA – The members of the Accra
Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) on Wednesday overwhelmingly endorsed Mr Alfred
Asiedu Adjei as the Presiding Member (PM) of the Assembly.

The newly elected PM secured 52 votes,
representing 96 per cent of the 54 votes cast by the assembly members present
during the polls.

Mr Adjei, 40, is the Assembly Member for
Avenor Electoral Area and a social worker with Absolute Community Network, a
Non-Governmental Organisation that caters for vulnerable women in deprived
communities.

Mr Mohammed Adjei Sowah, the Chief Executive
of the AMA, in an address said that there was the need to fill the seat after
the former PM, Mr Thomas Mustapha Ashong’s term of office ended some months
ago, to facilitate the work of the house.

The election, which was conducted by the
officials of the Electoral Commission was done peacefully and the elected PM
was immediately sworn into office by Madam Abena Opoku Adjin-Doku, a Circuit
Court Judge.

Mr Adjei in his address expressed gratitude to
the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and promised to work
hand-in-hand with them to ensure that the AMA Chief Executive’s vision of
making Accra a smart, sustainable and resilient city was achieved.

He further promised to work hard towards
ensuring that the assembly members were given whatever was due them in time in
order to work towards developing their various electoral areas.
