A man who wanted to know if police were looking to arrest him was arrested for calling to ask if he had any warrants.

The man from Louisiana was arrested Monday after dialing 911 to see if there was an active arrest warrant, police said.

24-year-old Christian Palacios called the Thibodaux police at about 10:15 p.m.

The responding officers reportedly asked Palacios if he knew the difference between an emergency call and a non-emergency call, and when he said “yes,” he was arrested.

Palacios was charged with misusing the 911 system.
He now faces 30 days in jail and a fine up to $500 if he is found guilty of the misdemeanor charge.

The Thibodeaux police department is reminding residents to only call 911 for emergencies and to call their main phone number for non-emergency calls.
