Laboratory technicians advised to uphold ethics

Tamale, July 23, GNA
– The Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists has advised students
in the field to uphold moral and ethical values as they transition into the
world of work to ensure improved health care delivery.    

Mr Patrick Nsobila
Asebgu, Northern Regional Chairman of Ghana Association of Medical Laboratory
Scientists, who gave the advice, said health professionals must uphold the
principal motivation of being a humanitarian, who helped people at their most
vulnerable point.

Mr Asebgu said “If
your motivation for venturing into health care is for financial gains, you have
missed the discipline.”

He said this during
the graduation of student of Advanced Global College in Tamale at the weekend,
where a total of 93 students graduated with certificates in the fields of
medical laboratory technology and pharmacy technicians.

Mr Asebgu urged
professionals in the health sector to adhere to the code of ethics, as well as
be innovative at improving services for the benefit of all.

He emphasized that
health care delivery was based on team work and the main focus was what was
best for the client adding, “Medical laboratory professionals are the
detectives within the health care delivery that supports diagnoses and treatment
of patients”.

Alhaji Ahmed Zaruk
Nuhu, Principal of Advance Global College, advised graduands to persevere to
achieve success, saying “This is to say that change is earned, you need to
remain resolute to obtain a change. Change is not for free, to change your life
for good, you need to let certain things go whiles you bring new values on
board.”
