The association donated cloths along with 20 desktop computers to the Tatale-Sanguli District
Titertob USA, a Non-profit and voluntary Association formed by Bassares and Konkombas in the United States of America has donated computers and clothing to some communities in the Tatale-Sanguli District.
The Association donated 22 desktop computers to junior high schools pupils, which was done through the intervention of Tekpan Anyobank, a community-based Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO).
A statement from Tekpan Anyobank NGO and copied to the Ghana News Agency said the Association also donated some clothing to some victims of the recent armed robbery cases in the district.
The statement said Mr Peter Bajo, the President Titertob USA said the association was formed to take care of themselves and their families as well as their extended families at home where both tribes live with membership from Ghana and Togo.
He said the association decided to do the gesture base on a video that was put on social media depicting a Teacher in some part of Northern Region trying to teach computer science to the pupils.
“The teachers try their best, but because there is no physical component for the pupils to see, it becomes difficult for teachers to explain the concept of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in abstract.
Members of the Association watched the video, where a teacher was teaching without computers and were touched by it, therefore took it upon themselves to start a pilot project of the kind,” the statement noted.
Mr Bajo said members also had been following recent issues of armed robbery, therefore, acquired clothing so that part could be donated to the surviving victims or spouses and children adding that the remaining clothing were to be given to other remote areas.
According to the statement, Mr Bajo noted that Tatale-Sanguli District was picked unanimously due to its diverse nature, where major tribes live in peace. The Association urged the youth in the district and in the country to take education seriously and desist from social vices that had the tendency to impact negatively on lives including theirs.
He said it would not be the last time for the gesture and that next time it could be in the form of scholarship for brilliant but needy students.
The association was confident that the items would be used for the intended purposes.
Present at the ceremonies were MP for the area, Director of Ghana Education Service, Paramount Chief of Tatale traditional council, Queen Mother, other Chiefs, headteachers, and the community members.
Receiving the items on behalf of the members of the Tekpan Anyobank NGO, Mr Simon Libalgma Kuwella, commended Titertob Association U.S.A for the kind gesture done the members who lost their husbands and the breadwinners as a result of armed robbery attacks which took place on May 21 last year.
He indicated that the Victims’ families had been over the past one year struggling to survive after the death of their breadwinners as a result of armed robbery attack and that the items donated by association brought a level of relief to.
Recalling the armed robbery attack, which occurred on May 21, last year, the statement said, led to the sudden demise of four breadwinners, including Takumba Papa, Kuwella Assindol, Wunbornyi Nkumpoan and Kojo N-Nyachi.
He noted that government did not cater for the bereaved families of the late four breadwinners and “I, therefore, use this opportunity to call on both the government and philanthropists to come to the aid of these poor children, widows and other family members.”
Mr Kuwella called on the government to mount additional police posts in the district to help curb unforeseen recurring of the similar attacks by armed robbers.
