the Awutu Senya East Municipality to facilitate the flow of the stream at the

area, which had been a major concern for the residents

Accra, July 19, GNA – Radiance Petroleum
Limited (RPL) has constructed a culvert over the Okurudu Stream at Opeikuma in
the Awutu Senya East Municipality to facilitate the flow of the stream at the
cost of GH¢600,000.00.

A 1600-metre drain to the stream had also been
dredged for the free flow of water to prevent the perennial flooding in the
area, which had been a major concern for the residents.

The RPL handed over the project to the Awutu
Senya East Assembly to coincide with its Fuel Station’s fifth anniversary at
Opeikuma.

Mr Emmanuel Pobee, the General Manager, in a
statement copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the gesture forms part of their
corporate social responsibility, to reduce the plight of the people during
rainy seasons.

It said: “When the initial cost of the project
was valued at GH¢600,000.00, we were just three years in operations and thought
it was too huge for us to carry but we told ourselves that we have to do this
to support this community we find ourselves.

“Anytime it rained there was serious problems
and inconveniences for those living here, so we told them that we would see to
the issue and tackle it in the best possible way, and today we have handed it
over to the community the completed culvert.”

Mr Michael Mensah, the Municipal Chief
Executive for Awutu Senya East commended RPL for their support to the community
and said it would go a long way to ease the flooding and traffic congestion on
the main Kasoa road.
