Tourists who went to see wild animals were shocked to find the remains of humans next to a pack of lions.
A ranger who took the tourists to the safari in South Africa called the police anti-poaching unit after spotting the remains.
Nick Fox, the owner of the Sibuya game reserve in the Eastern Cape, said a commotion was heard earlier in the day from the lions.
However, they did not investigate the issue at the time.
The police recovered bones, an ax, three pairs of shoes, and gloves, leading them to believe that that 3 people had been eaten alive by the lions.
The ax confirmed to police that these people were poachers who use a gun to shoot rhinos and the ax to remove the horns, Fox said.
