The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has impressed upon players in the tourism industry and car rental industry to properly educate their personnel to boost the tourism sector.

This, the GIPC said is key in boosting tourism in the country as other countries are able to leverage on well-informed drivers to help grow their tourism sector.

Director of Investor Services at the GIPC, Edward Ashong Lartey said the education of drivers on the tourist sites in the country is critical to help grow the country’s tourism sector.

“Now that our tourism industry is poised to grow under the Tourism Development Plan, it’s important that we have all the core structures in place. Car rental places, for instance, can be used”.

“I have had the benefit of using them locally and it was convenient as I travelled to Kumasi from Accra,” he added.

Mr. Lartey observed that a well-educated driver will leave a good impression on tourists who visit the country.

“It is important that the drivers are well educated on the places they go to, in other countries a tourist is able to rely on these drivers to educate them on the history of the places they are going to and this increases their patronage so it is important that we are able to do same here in Ghana with our drivers”.

He made the comments during the launch of Switch Car Rental by Leasafric Ghana Limited.
