Accra, July 12, GNA – An Accra High Court has
appointed the Registrar of Companies as the official liquidator of the Ghana
Football Association (GFA), as government takes steps to dissolve the governing
body of local football, following what has been termed the “Anas
Expose” recently.

The court on Thursday also granted an extension
of an injunction against officials, members and directors of the GFA preventing
them from undertaking any official capacity on behalf of the association.

The court granted an application filed by the by
Attorney-General, acting on behalf of the government, for the dissolution of
the GFA, thereby appointing Registrar General’s Department, the sole obligation
of managing the assets of the GFA to prevent any form of thievery whilst
investigations were still ongoing.

According to the A-G, the GFA is not fit for
purpose after corrupt practices revealed in the Number 12 video documentary by
ace investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, hence the plan to liquidate
the entity through legal means.

The courts have therefore taken this measure
on interim basis until the petition is fully heard with the GFA on the other
hand, also challenging the Attorney General’s petition for their dissolution.

Meanwhile, a two-member liaison team have also
being mandated by the Government, FIFA and CAF to undertake the certain
managerial aspect of the GFA as they look to return football to normalcy by
interacting with all stakeholders.
