Ho, July 12, GNA – The Asogli State Council is
demanding an unqualified apology from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and its
Chairman Mr. Freddy Blay for the Chairman’s alleged “misconduct” and show
of “disrespect” to Togbe Afede XIV, Agbogbomefia of Asogli and
President of the National House of Chiefs.

A press release signed by Mr Stephen Tetteh,
Secretary to the Council and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the
Council took strong exceptions to comments and statements attributed to the NPP
Chairman in the media in response to Togbe Afede’s comment on corruption and
demanded apology.

It said the NPP’s silence over the issue was
an indication that it supported the Chairman’s conduct, saying, “We can only
conclude that this might be part of their boardroom decision” and asked the
Party to respond with immediate effect.
