The Brand Ghana Office has been replaced with a committee which is tasked to market the country to the rest of the world, the Acting Chief Executive of the Ghana Tourism Authority has said.

Akwasi Agyemang said the committee is made up of representatives of the Authority together with Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Ghana Exports Promotion Authority (GEPA) and the Free Zones Board.

He said, “Currently, the Brand Ghana Office doesn’t exist; what we have done is to form a committee of minds; GIPC is one of the main agencies that promote Ghana when it comes to investments.”

Mr Agyeman said, “We do marketing and promotion of Ghana as a destination and then we have Free Zones Board and the Ghana Exports Promotion Authority so we formed a small working group to look at Brand Ghana: how do we sell it?”

“…so we want to find a common ground where all these things can sink,” he said while speaking to JoyBusiness on the sidelines of the 2nd edition of Ghana Beverage Awards organized by Global Media Alliance.

Mr Agyemang told JoyBusiness the replacement has become necessary to increase the tourism sector’s offerings.

The Brand Ghana Office was established in 2009 by the late President John Evans Atta Mills, to among other tasks, package the country’s values, heritage, socio-economic and political environment to the outside world.

Hellen Annan was the Chief Executive for the office.

In line with that, the then council members and the management team of the office met to create a unique name image for Ghana to be implemented from 2017 to 2019.
