Rawlings Ex JjFormer President Jerry John Rawlings

As the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) goes to the polls today [Saturday]constituencynstituency executives nationwide, the party’s founder, Jerry John Rawlings wants the election results to reflect that of a rejuvenated NDC.

“Our choices must reflect the face of a rejuvenated NDC desirous of moving on from the challenges that cost us dearly in 2016,” he said in a statement.

Rawlings said the “openness and smooth conclusion of the electoral process would be an indicator of our readiness for the selection of national level officers later this year.”

The NDC is today holding constituency elections in all but 16 constituencies across the country.

The polls in the 16 constituencies are unable to be held today due to various petitions challenging the process.

Executives who will be elected today will serve a 4-year-mandate.

Rawlings in the statement further prayed for an incident-free poll and urged the delegates to take the process seriously.

Let constituency executive polls be transparent – Mahama

Former president John Mahama had also urged the delegates to ensure transparency in the process.

In a Facebook post, John Mahama said there is the need for all members of the party to forge ahead in unity to reclaim political power in the 2020 polls.

“I expect a free, fair, peaceful and transparent election. You are all winners even before voting starts. The outcome of the election must, therefore, have no losers,” John Mahama wrote.

RAWLINGS: ELECT CREDIBLE, COMMITTED EXECUTIVES

As the National Democratic Congress undertakes constituency elections across all constituencies in the country to elect party executives I urge delegates to take the process seriously.

This is a process aimed at selecting persons who will manage the grassroots of our party and that process must be based on transparency, equity and fairness.

I urge delegates to vote for credible and committed members of the party whose desire is to restore the core founding principles of truth, integrity, probity and accountability.

The openness and smooth conclusion of the electoral process would be an indicator of our readiness for the selection of national level officers later this year.

Our choices must reflect the face of a rejuvenated NDC desirous of moving on from the challenges that cost us dearly in 2016.

I wish all delegates and candidates well and pray that the process would be incident-free. May the best candidates win.
