Son killed after mother’s coffin fell on his head during funeral

A family is devastated over the sudden loss of a man who was killed by his mother’s coffin.

The man from Indonesia died in a freak accident after the coffin carrying his mother’s body fell on top of him and he was crushed to death.

40-year-old Samen Kondorura was serving as a pallbearer at the funeral for his mother, Berta Kondurara, on the island of Sulawesi.

The pallbearers began climbing a wooden ladder to place the coffin in a lakkian, which is an ornately carved tower where coffins are placed before the traditional funeral proceedings take place.

However, the ladder collapsed under the feet of the group and the coffin fell off the lakkian. The coffin hit Kondorura on the head.

He died on the way to the hospital.
