One Smart Ghana Limited in partnership with MTN Ghana Thursday June 14, 2018 launched Star Phone Service, a global service, allowing companies and institutions to keep all communication links in one place.

The ‘Star Phone Service’ is a unique dial code and application that allows customers to contact businesses with a single dial, devoid of the cumbersome phone numbers.

Users of the ‘Star Phone Service’ will be able to interact with business organizations with ease, without the stress of worrying about lengthy phone numbers and complicated email addresses.

The ‘Star Phone Service’ platform hosts all contact numbers of organizations, as well as their available communication channels such as electronic mail and social media handles, which can be accessed with the use of a unique four-digit code.

Representing the Communications Minister at the launch of the service, Deputy Communications Minister, Vincent Odotei Sowah said the initiative is in line with government’s vision of digitizing Ghana’s economy.

“The global economy today is being driven by technology and innovation which is evolving. It is therefore great news for Ghana that this application is being launched at this time when digitization of Ghana’s economy is key on the President’s agenda to position Ghana as a regional ICT hub,” he said

Cornelius Kakraba, the CEO of One Smart Star Ghana, said the company so far has more than 70 companies which have signed up in the country adding that the service would make communications with signed-up businesses and institutions easier for users and clients, solving the challenge of having to deal with several phone numbers when the need arises.

Ameley Ampofo, the Acting Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana on her part said the Star Phone Service is a unique dial code and app that allows customers to contact businesses just by single dial or tap without having to deal with the lengthy 10 digits.

One of the problems we identified in the market is the issue of dealing with several phone numbers or digits when we need to reach businesses or organizations. Toll free numbers are usually very long and not easy to memorize.

“As it is often the case, whilst on your phone with a caller and there is the need to request for a number, the next thing will be for you to look for a place to write or store the number. To solve this problem and make it much easier to reach organizations, Fast Food joints and many more, MTN in partnership with One Smart Star Ghana Limited is happy to introduce onto the market, the Star Phone Service,” she said.
