BAAKO KEN STERNKweku Baako, Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide newspaper and Kennedy Agyapong

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide newspaper, Abdul-Malik Kweku Baako is wondering what the concern of Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong is, if his protégé Anas Aremeyaw Anas owns properties.

Mr Agyapong has been launching scathing attacks on the undercover journalist’s modus operandi, especially in relation to his latest investigative documentary done in collaboration with the BBC on corruption in Ghana football. The documentary titled Number 12 will be premiered on 6 June 2018.

Mr Agyapong described Anas as a “corrupt, wicked and evil” person, who entraps people and later blackmails them with whatever evidence he gathers for personal gain.

The lawmaker believes if Anas were to have been using the same tactics in some other part of the world, he would have been killed by now.

Mr Agyapong had told Omanhene Kwabena Asante on Badwam on Adom TV that: “Go to Midas residence, Dzorwulu, and take a look at the kind of building the guy and his partner, Philips, have put up, because he destroys people and makes money? Verify if a genuine journalist in this country can make that kind of money. Also, check Phinas Hostel along the Prampram road, he also owns Phinas Pharma which sells drugs”.

He added that the investigative journalist also owns properties in Osu which he rents out to people and wondered whether he has been paying taxes on that revenue since 2016.

Responding to these claims on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana show on Thursday, 31 May 2018, Mr Baako quizzed: “If Anas has a property or properties, what is Kennedy Agyapong’s business?”

He continued: “He [Kennedy Agyapong] talks of Anas owning a business, Anas has acquired properties, he mentions one or two or three properties. Anas is a citizen of this country, under the constitution, he has the right to acquire property, so, if Anas has property or properties, what is Kennedy Agyapong’s business? He proceeds there to suggest that, perhaps, the properties Anas has acquired are proceeds of criminal activity, extortion or blackmail, has he provided anything of evidential value? He should provide it.”
