The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Chairman Wontumi, says the return of former President John Dramani Mahama, to contest the flag bearer position of the opposition of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a good omen for the elephant family.
Mahama, according to the NPP regional chairman, is the weakest candidate ever presented by the umbrella family to contest for presidential elections in the history of the country.
The former President of the land, Wontumi added, will present the NPP a silver platform to win the 2020 general elections should he (Mahama) wins the NDC flagbearership race to become the presidential candidate of the party.
“Since 1992, Mahama has proven to be the weakest candidate ever presented by the NDC. That is why I am happy that he is coming back. He is the wife of the NPP. All the candidates that the NDC has presented are better than Mahama”, he noted.
Wontumi made this observation when interacting with Accra-based Okay FM, Thursday, over the return of the former President to seek for re-election as the flag bearer of the NDC.
The Ashanti Regional Chairman commenting further said Mahama is a failure, hence, his matching orders from power by the people who voted for him.
“Mahama could not introduce any policy to address the plight of the vulnerable in society. Also among his failures is the withdrawal of the teachers and nurse’s training allowances as well not being able to address the erratic power supply situation that hit the country. When you compare Mahama’s six-year rule to that of Akufo-Addo’s sixteen months in office, one could only conclude that Mahama performed abysmally”, he posited.
