Kanye West accused of abandoning NGO opened in honour of his late mom

Rapper Kanye West seems to always be at the centre of controversy, this time for allegedly neglecting his own mother’s legacy.

Donda’s House, the non-profit organisation opened in 2016 by rappers Kanye West and Rhymefest in honour of Kanye’s late mom Donda West, is at the centre of controversy after Rhymefest took to social media to accuse Kanye of neglecting the project.

Donda’s House has been described by Rhymefest as a “community arts incubator” for young people which was intended to be turned into a studio, museum and learning centre, but has been struggling to keep afloat, allegedly due to the lack of support from Kanye.

Rhymefest caught the media’s attention after releasing a statement on the organisation’s website asking that as Kanye is boycotted for his most recent statements supporting US president Trump that the organisation not be penalised or forgotten. “We do not want your rejection of Kanye West to be a rejection of Dr Donda West and the thousands of lives she impacted…” the statement released on Saturday read.

To add fuel to fire, Rhymefest tweeted rapper Drake asking him to step in where Kanye has failed, and donate some of the money he had sent an invoice to Kanye’s GOOD Music for, which is a serious clap back considering Drake just released a diss track against Pusha T and Kanye after Pusha T accused him of not writing his own lyrics.
