Director of Communications at the Ghana Gas Company says utterances of some minority Members of Parliament and NDC communicators over President Akufo-Addo’s decision to officially lodge a complaint at the police against Mr Kwesi Nyantakyi is in bad taste.
Mr. Ernest Owusu Bempah contends that the move by the President should be hailed and not condemned.
“Why should the NDC have a problem with the president and describe his actions as rushed? They should rather laud the president because he is fighting corruption,” he said.
Ernest Owusu Bempah was speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Friday.
Mr. Kwasi Nyantakyi, president of the Ghana Football Association is said to have allegedly used President Akufo-Addo and his vice’s names to solicit for funds from investors in a latest expose by investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
Nana Akufo-Addo after watching excerpts of the video lodged a complaint with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service.
Mr. Nyantakyi was subsequently picked up at the airport upon his arrival from Morocco as investigations are continuing.
Mr. Owusu Bempah wants Ghanaians to support President Akufo-Addo in his quest to fight corruption, adding that the President is blameless.
“The presidency has been open and transparent. Though his name was mentioned, he handed it over to the appropriate quarters for redress,” he said.
