Nigerian reggae-dancehall singer and songwriter, Patrick Nnaemeka Okorie, better known by his stage name Patoranking, has encouraged up-and-coming artistes to work hard and smart because music is both lucrative and frustrating.

According to the artiste, up-and-coming artistes should not consider giving up on their talents and dreams in the industry but rather should work hard and work smart to promote themselves and their art.

In an interview on Zylofon FM with Sammy Flex on ‘Showbiz Agenda’, Patoranking said, “Giving up is never an option for up-and-coming musicians, though there are challenges in the industry but you have to work hard on your talent to be the best and work smart in terms of getting your art there. In other words, work smartly hard because music will be lucrative if only you pay your dues. Every dog has its day, I remember five years ago I had nothing but now I am blessed due to hard work.”

Patoranking, who became a protégé of Dem Mama Records after collaborating with Timaya on his song ‘Alubarika’, added that he is not only a Nigerian artiste but an African ready to unify Africa through music. The artiste, in February 2014, signed a record deal with Foston Musik and released ‘Girlie O’, a single that put him in the limelight.

On February 9, 2015, Patoranking announced via Instagram that he signed a distribution deal with VP Records and that he had recently dropped a single dubbed ‘Suh Different’ produced by Mix Master Garzy.

The new track is available on all online music shops.
