“Too known” Akufo-Addo gov’t doesn’t heed to expert advice – JOY

Independent candidate in the 2016 general elections Jacob Osei Yeboah says the Akufo-Addo administration seems to be crawling with the implementation of his key policies because it does not heed to expert advice.

For Mr. Osei Yeboah popularly called JOY, a case in point is the National Identification[Ghana Card] which has stalled unnecessarily as a result of the fact that they[NPP government] don’t listen.

” I don’t know whether its because some of us are not NPP that is why when we advice they don’t take it. They are stubborn, and too known. If they are to listen to expert advice I don’t see the reason why they should be struggling to implement those key policies,” he told host Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa 102.5 FM.

His remark comes on the heels of  President Akufo-Addo’s claim that his government is going to use oil revenues to create assets for the country, and not waste it on consumption.

According to President Akufo-Addo, as a relatively new entrant in the league of oil-producing countries, Ghana is not going to treat her oil like she has done with gold, and allow it to be exported in its raw material form as crude.

Ghana’s oil, President Akufo-Addo explained, presents the country with the perfect opportunity to transform the structure of Ghanaian economy through industrialization and value-added commercial activities.

“Our oilfields provide us with the perfect opportunity to create a petrochemical industry in Ghana. We have begun the processes leading to the setting up of a gas feedstock industrial estate in the Western Region of the country,” he said on Saturday, 12th May, 2018, when he delivered a speech at the London Business School’s Africa Summit, on the theme “Scaling for Impact – the Important role of Industrialisation.”

But according to JOY, the government ought to understand better the assets of the nation[both human and natural] and how they can leverage it to maximise the development needs of the country.

He stated that Mr. Akufo-Addo must shift from sharing his so-called fine ideas, get his hands on the ground and work for Ghanaians.

In his view, the incompetencies and failing promises of the Akufo-Addo administration are telling ahead of the 2020 general elections.

“At the end of Nana-Addo’s four year mandate, all of us are going to assess, so they shouldn’t take Ghanaians for granted. Now most Ghanaians are turning their attention to the Independent Candidates. They didn’t believe me initially on the fact that the Independent Candidates are not self seeking and have a lot to offer the nation than the parties. But that is the trend going on around the world in politics; various states are now being governed by the independent candidates and changing the face of politics. Germany, Italy, UK and others are withdrawing from the extreme right and left wing.” he observed.
