Asante Kotoko A1Asante Kotoko are determined to return to winning ways

Kumasi Asante Kotoko coach, Paa Kwesi Fabin and his players are determined to avoid a third successive defeat and return to winning ways when they clash with Bechem United in a Week 12 Premier League encounter at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Following their agonising 0-1 home defeat to Hearts of Oak last Sunday and the 3-1 drubbing by Karela FC at the CAM Park at Nzema-Aiyinase last Wednesday, Kotoko’s coach is under pressure to steady the ship and tomorrow’s game will be an important test he must pass to appease the agitated supporters of the club.

Felix Annan, easily Kotoko’s most reliable player this season, and the man who stood between his side and a bigger margin in their midweek clash, admitted in an interview that Bechem United would be tough but Kotoko will prevail.

He said Kotoko players had resolved to avoid a third straight defeat on neutral grounds tomorrow so “the fans should continue to cheer us because we will ensure that we are back to winning ways tomorrow.”

That aside, attention will also be focused on the Nduom Park at Elmina where league leaders, Ashgold, face a tough assignment against Elmina Sharks after notching a lone goal victory over visiting Eleven Wonders at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium.

Last Wednesday, Sharks also defied all odds to hold Bechem United to a 3-3 draw away, but against the Soccer Miners, the Sharks might find it difficult dealing with the shafts.

Ashgold coach, Charles Akonnor, has already described the match as a dicey affair, but he is hoping to snatch at least a point to remain in contention for the league title.

The Tarkwa and Aboso Park will be another boiling point when Medeama host second-placed Dreams FC who are now on 20 points just as Ashgold.

Dreams have an unimpressive away record compared with Medeama who are unbeaten at home this season and will be hoping to profit from a slip by the leaders at Elmina.

At Techiman, Eleven Wonders will seek to account for visiting Ebusua Dwarfs who perch dangerously at the 14th position on the log and have managed just a point in four away games so far.

WAFA are expected to be ruthless against tottering Wa All Stars at Sogakope to record their fourth straight victory under Coach Sadiq Abubakar, who was promoted from the Under-16 team to take charge of the senior side following the resignation of their Danish trainer, Klavs Rasmussen.

At the Carl Reindorf Park at Dansoman, 13th-placed Liberty Professionals face stiff opposition from high-flying Karela FC, whose confidence has soared following their midweek victory over Kotoko, while Inter Allies are tipped to win their sixth consecutive home game against Berekum Chelsea at the Tema Stadium.
