MOBA GEY HEY 18The programme brought together ‘Old Boys’ and ‘Old Girls’of the two schools

Just as anticipated, it was all joy at the Covenant Family Community Church when the Mfantsipim Old Boys Association (MOBA) and the Wesley Girls’ High school old girls association (WHGS-OGA) held their first ever Gospel Concert together.

Under the theme “Let us with a Gladsome Mind, Praise the Lord”, the concert brought under one roof, the MOBA-GEY HEY fraternity, their families and friends in an atmosphere of praise, worship and thanksgiving to God.

Ready to show off their products every chance available, the two schools gave old students in music the platform to share their gifts and usher the gathering into praise and worship.

Kofi Owusu Dua Anto popularly known as KODA, Ernest Nii-Okai Okai also known as Nii Okai, Alfred Addaquay, Luigi Maclean, Frank Guildford, Jasher Taylor and Yaw Antwi-Dadzie, all products of Mfantsipim thrilled the congregation with some of their hits and other very exciting gospel songs with ever popular Joyful Way Incorporated delivering one of their usual show stopping performances.

Delivering the sermon, Lady Pastor Dr. Joyce Wilson of the First Love Church and an “Old Girl” touched on the need for believers to avail themselves to be used as instruments for the Lord’s service and charged all and sundry to ‘ do just a little bit more’ in service to God and country.

Also included in the program were short exaltations and prayers from the Pastor Mrs. Stella Darkwa of Delightful Springs Ministry International, Nii Amankra and Rev Albet Ocran.

Addressing the congregation, the Ebusuapanyin (President) of MOBA, Capt. Paul Forjoe, explained the reason for the event and appreciated individuals who contributed massively in making the event a success.

“This annual praise and worship highlights our Christain values borne from the Weslyan traditions and showcases our Christian beliefs through worship, praises and thanksgiving by communing with God through songs and verses,” he noted.

National President of WGHS-OGA, Prof. Afua Hesse also speaking on the theme admonished all gathered to be grateful at all times no matter the circumstance and advised to spend more time praying and seeking the face of God rather than brooding over life’s lemons.

“The theme this year is very apt as we are reminded to praise the Lord and give thanks for all that we have. It is easy to speak negatively about our circumstances rather than make positive declarations based on God’s word. No matter how bad things may seem, once you start counting your blessings, you will often find you have more to be thankful for in life than you presumed,” she mentioned.

She added then that, “this year I challenge us all to develop an attitude of gratitude , thanking God for every little thing we take for granted such as the amazing gift of life and (relatively) good health.”

The event as always ended with patrons wanting more.

Mfantsipim School and Wesley Girls High School, both in Cape Coast, were established on solid Christian principles by the Methodist Church. Over the years, students who have been privileged to attend the two Schools have been taught to recognize the Lordship of Christ and to respond in obedience to His call to be transforming influences in society.

It is not only about shaping their minds by feeding them with information in the various subjects studied in School, but more importantly it has always been about developing them spiritually, so that it has a significant impact on their lives and those around them.

This has resulted in good a number of products of the two schools heeding the call to become humble servants to God and country, working in all selflessness and dedication.
