President of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Ahmad Ahmad has paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene on Monday.

The leader of Africa football’s governing body traveled to Kumasi to visit His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace.

The CAF President Ahmad Ahmad, who arrived in Ghana on Monday, April 23, 2018 afternoon proceeded to Kumasi where he held a closed-door meeting with the ruler of the Asante Kingdom.

Mr. Ahmad Ahmad is in Ghana ahead of an award ceremony that will see him being honoured with a doctorate degree from the University of Professional Studies in Accra –UPSA.

The award ceremony which comes off on Wednesday will see Ahmad becoming the first major international sports personality to receive the award from the highly-rated university known for promoting the industry.

Speaking to the media after a courtesy call on Otumfour Osei Tutu II at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi Mr Ahmad Ahmad, observed that the Egypt and Liverpool star Mohammed Salah is currently the best player in the world.

According to him if Salah can lead Liverpool to champions league glory, he stands a very good chance of winning the Ballon d’Or crown.

“I mean, not Messi is the best now, Salah is the best now,” Ahmad said.

Salah was voted the PFA player of the year after a stellar season with Liverpool in which he has scored an incredible 41 goals in all competitions. Salah was also voted the African Footballer of the year in January, adding to the BBC African Footballer of the Year award he won a few months earlier.

The 26 year old’s exploits have carried Liverpool into the Champions League semifinals, scoring 8 goals in the process and was also an instrumental figure in Egypt’s qualification to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

“I think that if Liverpool wins the champions league, I think he will be among the top three players in the world [Ballon d’Or shortlist],” the Madagasy told reporters.

“Performances for national teams are clubs are important in selecting the best player in the world.

“So if he has a good world cup or wins the champions league with Liverpool, then why not. Because, honestly, I think he is the best [player] now.

Mr. Ahmad Ahmad was accompanied by Lawyer Kwesi Nyantakyi , GFA president and CAF 1st vice president, Anthony Baffour CAF Deputy General Secretary in-charge of Football and Development), Sannie Daraah ,GFA communication director, Alhaji MND Jawula, Osei Tutu Agyemang -Kotoro , Ashanti Regional FA chairman, Opoku Nti (EXCO member) and Dr. Kwame Kyei Kotoko C.E.O.
