Public Relations Officer of Medeama SC, Patrick Akoto insists that contrary to reports that referee Nuhu Liman tripped on his way to the dressing room, he was attacked during recess.
“It is sad when reports from Elmina Sharks indicates that referee Liman tripped and fell because I chanced upon the incident just after first half of the game and I saw him being attacked on his way to the dressing room after the first half”, Patrick explained.
“I was coming to my club’s dressing room after the first half and saw all that happened on my way. He never fell but was attacked”, he added
According to Akoto, Medeama SC were dominating the game and were becoming too competitive for the home side to overcome so they wanted the referee to turn things in their favour.
“Elmina Sharks just wanted to intimidate us because we were a stronger team compared to them and they went a little over board, trying to turn things in their favour”, Patrick told Asempa FM.
