The alleged jilted man is diagnosed to be addicted to pain relief drug, tramadol

A 20-year-old man was rushed to the Bimbilla Government Hospital on Friday after he allegedly stabbed himself in the abdomen.

According to the Medical Superintendent of the Hospital, Dr. Osman Abdulai, the victim is believed to be addicted to pain relief drug, tramadol.

He said the patient is now in a stable condition after a successful operation.

The Medical Superintendent told Citi News that “the intestines [of the patient] were out” when he was brought to the hospital.

“A 20-year-old man was rushed in this morning and the issue is that he was alleged to have stabbed himself in the abdomen in an attempt to commit suicide. When I came to examine him there were other things I established. He is alleged to have been involved in tramadol abuse. We established that there was a penetrating injury in the abdomen around the right flank, and the intestines were out.”

Dr. Osman said although the victim was very restless they were able to stabilize him.

“The patient has recovered and currently at the surgical ward of the hospital,” Dr. Abdulai said.

The police have commenced investigations into the matter.

Although the cause of the victim’s action is not immediately known, sources close to the situation have told Citi News that he stabbed himself because his girlfriend was trying to jilt him and he decided to end his life.

In a related incident, an unknown man believed to be in his late 40s was also brought to the hospital dead by the police.

He was suspected to have been knocked down by a car. He sustained multiple injuries in the head and limbs.

According to the police, the man was suspected to be someone who had mental health issues, and was on a bicycle when he was allegedly knocked down.

The police are appealing to the public to help them identify the relatives of the deceased.
