A director at Global Media Alliance Broadcast Company, Mr. Timothy Karikari has been elected as the Greater Accra Regional Coordinator of the Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association (GIBA).
Mr. Karikari was sworn in together with his Deputy Regional Coordinator, Richard Osei Agyapong of Radio Gold at the GIBA meeting held on Friday; 6th April 2018.
Speaking about his new position, Mr Karikari said he would work effectively to support GIBA’s Executive Council in discharging their duties as the governing body of the group.
“Media today has evolved from analogue to digital (i.e. digital broadcasting and social media among others) and therefore critical that members are able to capitalize on the technological change for the success of their brands,” he stated.
He added that it is his hope to work together with his deputy to increase the membership of GIBA as well as participation of existing members in the association.
“Accra has 45 non-public radio stations on air and as part of our mandate to support the GIBA Executive Council, we will help the council ensure that members maintain good and quality broadcasting standards through the institution of regular and relevant training. We also hope to increase membership and participation of existing members for the economic professional benefit of broadcast media firms.” Mr. Karikari disclosed.
