The Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, has alleged that despite some MPs, Ministers and deputy Ministers in the erstwhile Mahama administration taking double salaries, some in addition took double end of service gratuities, commonly known by many as ex-gratia.
The situation, he noted is worrying considering the limited resources of the country.
He said, however that some measures are being pursued by the government to recollect all those monies back into State coffers.
Hon. Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, made this allegation in an interview on Accra-based Okay FM, Wednesday, April 11, 2018.
He was reacting to the issue of double salaries intake by some appointees of the erstwhile Manama administration.
The Daily Guide newspaper in its Tuesday, April 10, 2018, edition alleged that some twenty-two (22) Article 71 appointees of the erstwhile Manama administration received double salaries as Ministers, deputy Ministers and Members of Parliament.
The paper further alleged that some if the beneficiary members have offered to make refunds of the double salaries they took.
The Minority Caucus in Parliament who are mainly MPs from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and who were Ministers and deputy Ministers in the Manama administration have denied the allegation, daring the Daily Guide, the CID of the Police Service and the Government to back up their claims with evidence.
But Mr. Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu insists the occurrence of the situation and added that what is even worse was some of the appointees taking double ex-gratia.
