Benjamin Agyari HeartsHearts of Oak take on Ashantigold at the Cape Coast stadium this afternoon

Hello good afternoon and welcome to our continuous coverage of the 2017/2018 Ghana Premier League.

This afternoon, Ashanti Gold coach C.K Akunnor is aiming to turn his “underrated” side into a “serious threat” as they travel to Cape Coast Sports Stadium to face Hearts of Oak in matchday two of 2017-18 Ghana Premier League.

The Miners survived relegation last season but have seen a major improvement this term, following a complete takeover of the club by business mogul Dr. Kwaku Frimpong.

They defeated Wa All Stars 1-0 at home on opening day and the manager is hoping to make it two consecutive victories against the Phobians who drew 1-1 with Eleven Wonders last weekend.

“Hearts of Oak is a big club and they shall continue to be Hearts of Oak. We know what they can do and we are working on neutralizing their threats,” Akunnor told Fox FM. “We hope to make things difficult for Hearts and try to win the game. We want to be much better than last season and probably be one of the biggest threats to the other title favourites. I want to achieve more than the last campaign to make the fans excited,” he added.Ashanti Gold are currently third on the log with three points.

Hearts of Oak on the other hand are chasing their first league title in 10 years and have promised to leave no stone unturned in their quest to win the league crown this term. The Phobians have adopted the Cape Coast stadium as their temporary home grounds due to the ongoing renovation works at the Accra sports stadium.

Can the Phobians make the Cape Coast stadium a fortress for opposing teams? Only time will tell.

Stay with us for all the updates of this game which kicks off at 15:00 GMT.
