Popular Hearts of Oak supporter Henry Harden known in public circles as Papa Nii has bemoaned the dwindling fortunes of the club, stating that the club has been worse off after the flotation of shares.

The Phobians in 2008 floated shares with the expectation that the move will usher the club into a new dawn of success but ten years on, the club is yet to win any major trophy.

The situation, Papa Nii believes is, as a result, the division that has crept into the team following the shares floatation.

He argues that the basis of the club’s success in previous years was the unity that existed among its members and that until the current handlers smoke the peace pipe with the old guards, the club will continue to struggle.

“Hearts of Oak is a family oriented club so if you try to disunite the family members, you will never succeed. The 11 members who formed the club were players, so unity and love have been part of this club since its formation. The reason why we achieved success in the 80, 90s and early 2000s is because the management then were closely knitted. We used to meet every day after work.

“The problem is we realized the club has no sustainable source of funds so some of the fans asked that we float shares. Unfortunately, after the share flotation, we did not get the required amount. The best decision was to refund their monies but certain things happened and Togbe became the CEO of the club. And because of the business module we run now, everyone who spends on the team must have it in return and that has made the club unattractive”, he said in an interview with UTV’s Abeiku Santana.
