Owner of Kumasi King Faisal Football Club, Alhaji Karim Grusah insists there is nothing wrong with the timing of George Afriyie’s declaration of wanting to be the next FA president but his manifesto will determining whether he is capable of leading Ghana Football.

The Ghana Football Association Vice President declared his intention of succeeding his boss, Kwesi Nyantakyi- who has stated he will not seek re-election in 2019 after three terms in office- at his 50th birthday celebrations last Friday.

In attendance was Alhaji Karim Grusah and several top football administrators with many surprised by the pronouncement by George Afriyie.

However, the founder of King Faisal says there is nothing wrong with the timing but it will heavily depend on what Afriyie puts in his manifesto.

“Now he [Afriyie] has declared his interest to succeed Kwesi, so I believe it’s in the right direction because he’s a football person and he thinks he can do better than the previous president, but his manifesto will determine whether he’s capable of doing the job,” he said.

He added, “Ghana football is going to the quagmire and we need people of competence to help resurrect it. George must bring out good manifesto because per my information Kurt Okraku, Fred Papoe, Kudjoe Fianoo, Alhaji Raji and Osei Kwaku Palmer are likely to contest, so if George thinks he’s capable of doing the job we are waiting for him to bring out what he can do for football.”

Ghana Football, according to many needs a change at the top of it’s administration but are yet to find out who succeeds Kwesi Nyantakyi.

Meanwhile, Nana Yaw Amponsah and George Afriyie are the only two people to publicly declare their intentions to run for the top position.
