Major Players to Discuss Entrepreneurship at Student Entrepreneurship Week Ghana by SFAN
When: July 26 – 28, 2018
Where: British Council Accra & Kempinski Hotel, Accra
A report by the African Development Bank shows that the gap between the number of labour market participants and available wage job opportunities widens by approximately eight million annually. Young Africans are disproportionately affected by the slow growth in jobs, and projections suggest that even under the most favourable growth conditions, less than a quarter of the roughly 350 million young Africans entering the labour force by 2035 will find wage employment in the formal sector.
In Ghana, over 1.2 million persons 15 years and older are estimated to be unemployed and active job seekers according to Ghana employment statistics.
“Entrepreneurship, a vector of jobs, is a condition of stability and security.”
Ghana employment statistics also records that 10.5% of these unemployed persons end up going into entrepreneurship when they couldn’t find jobs. However, it is estimated that over 75% of startups fail within 3 years.
In a recent report published by Venture Capital for Africa (VC4A), of all the reasons that might cause an African startup to fail, respondents selected bad execution as the leading cause.
