Despite the Accra High Court’s decision on Thursday to throw out Great Olympics’ application for an injunction on the Ghana Premier League, Citi Sports investigations reveal that there could still be some more drama in the offing.

This is because a concerned football fan and a whistleblower, Enock Yarboi, has revealed that he has filed a case against the GFA in a Tema court and the FA has been properly served with an injunction to stop the league from going ahead.

Mr. Yarboi earlier this month sent a letter to FIFA in relation to a lack of a resolution of the case involving Great Olympics, the GFA, Elmina Sharks and Bechem United.

FIFA responded to Mr. Yarboi and asked that the GFA look into the matter.

On Thursday evening, Citi Sports spoke to Bright Akwetey, who is legal counsel for Mr. Yarboi and he says the GFA will be tempting fate should the league be played this weekend.

“Two clubs used unqualified players in matches and the GFA has failed to take action in those cases. My client’s position is that the GFA must act responsibly and fairly. The cases should be handled by the FA so that everyone sees how such issues are resolved. He has gone to court to get the FA to take action.

It is public knowledge that my client has filed an injunction and so, if anybody wants to take the law into their own hands and go and participate in the league, there are consequences for such actions and we will be ready for the consequences.

We want the laws in this country to be respected.”

It is unclear how this story will develop especially as the GFA has announced referees and match officials for the Week 1 of the Ghana Premier League.
