Head Coach of Aduana Stars Yusif Abubakar says he is confident his charges still have a chance against ES Setif of Algeria ahead of their CAF Champions League second leg qualifier.
Substitute Sam Adams scored from the penalty spot on 73 minutes to give the Dormaa-based side a narrow 1-0 win ahead of the second leg at the dreaded Stade 8 Mai 1945 in Algeria.
Abubakar is refusing to throw in the towel and believes his side can cause an upset in Algeria.
“We knew they will give us a tough match and they did. I will never give up regardless of the score line.
I’m still remaining confident until the tie is over, and I trust that we will also give them a tough time in the second leg,” he said.
They played a very defensive game and were applying a lot of delay tactics so it was difficult to break them down. That does not mean that we will also be defensive when we go there. We will find a way.”
The second leg will be on March 16, with the winner progressing to the group stages of the competition.
