President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo says his government is committed to revive colts football in the country.
To this end, he disclosed that his government is constructing football pitches in Zongos across the country.
Delivering the 2018 State of the Nation Address before parliament on Thursday, 8 February 2018, Mr Akufo-Addo said the demise of juvenile football has robbed the country of exceptional talents in recent times.
To show his commitment to the development of football, he said his government has begun the rehabilitation of the Accra Sports Stadium.
“In partnership with the Inner City and Zongo Development Ministry and the Ghana Football Association, we are constructing a number of football pitches in the Zongos and across the rest of the country, to aid in the revival of colts football, which has been responsible for the production of talents like Abedi Pele and Tony Yeboah,” he stated.
Nana Akufo-Addo also believes Ghana needs to harness its footballing talents at a young age if the country is to continue its tradition as being one of the continent’s greatest footballing nations.
