Geopoll report: Peace FM stays on top; Citi overtakes Adom FM

GeoPoll, the leading mobile surveying platform in Africa, Asia and the Middle East, has released a report on the top TV channels, radio stations, and print outlets in Ghana for 2017, with Peace FM maintaining its position as the most listened to radio station in the Greater Accra Region.

Adabraka-based Citi FM continues to be Ghana’s topmost English Radio Station but saw an improvement as it thumbed Adom FM for the second position in the overall ranking.

Peace FM recorded 111,000 average audience while Citi FM had 84,000; followed by Joy FM (83,000), Adom FM (79,000) and Okay FM (52,000).

“Peace FM led in the average audience numbers in all four quarters throughout the year. Citi FM has seen the highest improvement in increasing their audience share. In Q2, Citi increased their share from 9% to 11% and in Q4 as well. In Q3, Citi was leading with a 13% share compared to 12% for Peace,” the report read.

In 2016, Citi FM placed third after Akan-speaking stations, Peace FM, and Adom FM, which were named 1st and 2nd respectively.

Meanwhile, Hello FM, Nhyira FM, Kessben FM, and Luv FM lead as the top four stations in the Ashanti Region.

Hello led in ratings in the Ashanti Region, although in Q4 there was stiffer competition between the top two stations: Both Hello FM and Nhyira had a 13% share. Kessben performed well through Q3, however, Luv took the third spot in Q4 with 10% share.

In Western Region, Goodnews and Space came first and second respectively. Skyy Power placed third while Rok FM occupied the fourth position.

According to Geopoll, the top media outlets were determined using the daily data collected through GeoPoll’s Media Measurement Service, which has been measuring media audience ratings through mobile phone surveys in Ghana since 2014.
