National Chairman of PNC Bernard Mornah is expected to explain to the party’s National Executive Committee the conditions that led to the presence of suspended General Secretary Atik Mohammed at a meeting with President Nana Addo or face suspension.

According to the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah must explain beyond all doubts why he did not refuse Atik Mohammed from holding himself as General Secretary at the meeting on Thursday, knowing very well that he has been suspended.

President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo, on January 4, 2018, met leaders of the various political parties in Ghana to seek their views on some governance-enhancing measures his administration intends to take.

Bernard Mornah and Atik Mohammed represented the PNC when President Nana Akufo Addo met leaders of all political parties in Ghana at the Flagstaff House.

However, the party has blamed the National Chairman for allowing Atik Mohammed to attend the meeting with him though he was part of the NEC decision to suspend the latter.

In an interview on Accra-based radio station 3FM, Vice Chairman Henry Asante said Mornah denied knowledge of how Atik Mohammed got access to the meeting at the presidency.

“We decided that since the chairman came to deny it, we need [him] at NEC to explain,” he said.

The Vice-chair added that summons by NEC is expected to be served Bernard Mornah not later than a fortnight while communications will be served stakeholders stating clearly the suspension of Atik Mohammed.
