Congestion was mainly caused by people engaged in their Christmas shopping and trading
The human and vehicular traffic that heralded the streets and central business district of Accra before the yuletide has drastically reduced after the holidays.
The congestion was mainly caused by people engaged in their Christmas shopping and trading.
Checks by the Ghana News Agency has indicated that most of the streets at Atta Mills High Street, Makola Market and areas around the Tema Station that were all congested prior to the yuletide were all clear and free to move on.
Speaking with the GNA, Mr Abu Sulleyman a driver at the Tema station said ‘’it is easy to move in Accra nowadays, during the Christmas period moving was a problem’’.
He added that business had come to its normal state.
Madam Irene Quaye, a trader at the Tema Station in Accra said their sales had gone down just after the festive period adding that it was now possible for free movement in town as compared to the pre-Christmas period.
Miss Joyce Baah, a beverage seller at the Tema Staion said she made good sales during the festive period, but now sales had changed to normal, but was happy that movement in the market was not a problem.
Mr Kofi Antwi, a commercial driver said yesterday’s business went down because shops were closed and people were also not in town and hoped that business would shoot up in the coming days.
Miss Adowa Danquah, a student stated she was happy the human and vehicular traffic had gone down few days after the holidays adding ‘’After the holidays there is no stress when boarding a vehicle and there is free movement in town too’’
