{"id":450328,"date":"2017-12-27T06:01:27","date_gmt":"2017-12-27T06:01:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/12\/27\/tema-oil-refinery-ready-for-commencement-of-crude-oil-refinery-in-2018\/"},"modified":"2017-12-27T06:01:27","modified_gmt":"2017-12-27T06:01:27","slug":"tema-oil-refinery-ready-for-commencement-of-crude-oil-refinery-in-2018","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/12\/27\/tema-oil-refinery-ready-for-commencement-of-crude-oil-refinery-in-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"Tema Oil Refinery ready for commencement of crude oil refinery in 2018"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"medsection1\">\n<!-- End of html generated by this->header() --><\/p>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">Business News of Wednesday, 27 December 2017<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>3news.com <\/p>\n<p>2017-12-27<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/11\/89854640.295.jpg\" alt=\"Tema Oil Refinery   Fresh\" title=\"Tema Oil Refinery   Fresh\" width=\"295\" height=\"160\" \/><span class=\"image_caption\"><span>Ghana\u2019s only refinery has been plagued with funding challenges, resulting in several shutd<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"noPrint\">\n<div id=\"537626303\" style=\"width:300;height:250;margin:0;padding:0\">\n<p>\t\t  <noscript><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"b2ad7fa7fd\" name=\"b2ad7fa7fd\" src=\"http:\/\/ghanaweb-d.openx.net\/w\/1.0\/afr?auid=537626303&amp;cb=151125817929577\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\"><a href=\"\/\/ghanaweb-d.openx.net\/w\/1.0\/rc?cs=b2ad7fa7fd&amp;cb=151125817929577\"><\/p>\n<p>\t\t  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/1514354487_47_ai\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"clear:right\">Maintenance works on the Tema Oil Refinery has been completed ahead of the scheduled commencement of crude oil refinery in the first quarter of 2018.<\/p>\n<p>With the discovery of oil and gas in Ghana, the company has attempted to expand and position itself to improve its infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>This is to ensure reliability of petroleum products on the Ghanaian market and also to enhance export to the ECOWAS sub-region.<\/p>\n<p>Management of TOR is counting on workers to put in more efforts to ensure the efficiency of the refinery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA positive attitude of employees towards work is what will keep the company high as production starts, in order to have TOR bounce back on its feet,\u201d TOR\u2019s Board Chairman, Tongreaan Kugbilsong Nanlebegtang, said.<\/p>\n<p>Since 1963, TOR has been the engine of growth for Ghana\u2019s economy in the vision of successive governments\u2019 efforts at having a vibrant and robust energy sector.<\/p>\n<p>Ghana\u2019s only refinery has been plagued with funding challenges, which have resulted in several shutdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Successive governments have had to institute a recovery debt levy to offset its indebtedness.<\/p>\n<p>Managing Director of TOR Isaac Osei said the refinery will expand further than it is currently with prudent management at the helm of affairs.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that training and re-training of staff will play an integral role in strategizing for growth in the coming year.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at a special send-off ceremony to honour a number of retired staff in recognition of their dedicated service to TOR, the Board Chairman and the Managing Director pledged their willingness to vigorously embark on key strategies to turn the refinery around.<\/p>\n<p>The send-off ceremony is a programme instituted by TOR to recognize and celebrate retired employees for their long service, commitment and dedication to duty when they were with the company.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 50 staff who retired between 2015 and 2017 were honoured in recognition of their meritorious service.<\/p>\n<div class=\"related_articles\" style=\"width: 100%;\">\n<div style=\"clear: both;
