{"id":450284,"date":"2017-12-26T21:20:08","date_gmt":"2017-12-26T21:20:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/12\/26\/parliament-passes-tax-amnesty-bill-before-rising\/"},"modified":"2017-12-26T21:20:08","modified_gmt":"2017-12-26T21:20:08","slug":"parliament-passes-tax-amnesty-bill-before-rising","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/12\/26\/parliament-passes-tax-amnesty-bill-before-rising\/","title":{"rendered":"Parliament passes Tax Amnesty Bill before rising"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/54596032.295.jpg\" alt=\"MPs Parliament\" title=\"MPs Parliament\" width=\"295\" height=\"196\" \/><span class=\"image_caption\"><span>The Tax Amnesty Bill is in line with governments\u2019 policy to reduce taxes on production<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"noPrint\">\n<div id=\"537626303\" style=\"width:300;height:250;margin:0;padding:0\">\n<p>\t\t  <noscript><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"b2ad7fa7fd\" name=\"b2ad7fa7fd\" src=\"http:\/\/ghanaweb-d.openx.net\/w\/1.0\/afr?auid=537626303&amp;cb=151125817929577\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\"><a href=\"\/\/ghanaweb-d.openx.net\/w\/1.0\/rc?cs=b2ad7fa7fd&amp;cb=151125817929577\"><\/p>\n<p>\t\t  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/1514323208_490_ai\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"clear:right\"> Parliament has passed the Tax Amnesty Bill as part of plans to improve voluntary tax compliance before it adjourned sitting.<\/p>\n<p>The Bill, if assented to by the President, will grant amnesty by readjusting the penalty to be paid by persons who fail to register with the Commissioner-General or file tax returns or pay their taxes as required by law.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on the bill, a Deputy Minister of Finance, Kwaku Kwarteng was confident the move should help in meeting the government\u2019s revenue target for the year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis Tax Amnesty is supplementary to the efforts that government intends to make in 2018 to ensure that the revenue projections in the 2018 budget are achieved\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis House[parliament] graciously approved many tax compliance measures which were in the 2018 budget .
