Tilapia and some West African cuisines were not left out on the menu. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/85816653.jpg\" align=\"middle\" \/><\/p>\n<p>At about 5pm, I took a walk on the beach to have a feel of how Togolese celebrate Christmas. I met Ad\u00e8le Germaine, who had to wrestle me from a competitor upon my arrival at the \u2018Togo Beach Spot\u2019. <\/p>\n<p>She tells me her mum has been in this business for over a decade and laments \u201csales during this year\u2019s Christmas is unmatched to the previous years\u201d hence the struggle for clients. <\/p>\n<p>Germaine attributed the low sales to \u201dthe economic crisis bedevilling the francophone country\u201d but expressed optimism sales would improve in the coming days especially on \u201cNew Year\u2019s Eve and new year day\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, hundreds paraded the Coco Beach for the yuletide. I was, therefore, a bit baffled about why patronage of food was low though there was a great number of people having a jolly Christmas. <\/p>\n<p>My curiosity led to me to interact with one of the drinking spot operators, Micheal. He told me \u201cTogo\u2019s famous beer \u2018Pils\u2019 was in high demand\u201d during the yuletide though he also indicated a decrease in sales on Christmas. <\/p>\n<p>Some acrobats also took advantage of the yuletide to make some cash, an adult and a teenage girl were seen displaying their acrobatic skills to the admiration of the \u2018jolly crowd\u2019. Their marvellous performances paid off, some patrons handed in some cash to the little girl. <\/p>\n<p>However, the celebrations were done amidst police visibility.
