Because if the committee had asked questions and it reflected in the report, you will see that the GH\u00a215 million is not for a single office<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe offices are targeted at the three development authorities to that extent that is GHS15 million for me it is not extraordinary,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>He also explained that the GH\u00a2500,000 budget for each four-wheel drive is not out of order.<\/p>\n<p>For a ministry that has three development authorities under it, the veteran journalist believes that the specification is not unusual.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you look at it from that perspective, you realize that 20 vehicles at the cost of GH\u00a2500,000 for this sector ministry and three development authorities, then it is not out of the ordinary in my candid opinion,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said if the Finance Committee had taken time to ask stringent questions and asked for a proper breakdown of the figures, maybe clarity would have been brought to the issue.<\/p>\n<p>In his view, an appropriate discussion on the focus and coverage of the ministry, the things it is supposed to do will provide a better understanding.<\/p>\n<p>Until that is done, people\u2019s emotions are only being played on, \u201cand that one, once it is thrown into the street the ministry and government loses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FGhanaHomePage%2Fvideos%2F1744805192263538%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=600\" width=\"600\" height=\"350\" style=\"border:none;overflow:hidden\" scrolling=\"no\" frameborder=\"0\" allowtransparency=\"true\" allowfullscreen=\"true\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Host of Metro TV\u2019s Goodmorning Ghana programme, Randy Abbey who also contributed to the discussion said the change in figures from GH\u00a2800,000 to GH\u00a280,000 was an afterthought.<\/p>\n<p>He said the Special Development Initiatives Ministry stood by the figures it presented when it appeared before the Finance Committee and that the change was only triggered after the public outburst.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cChecks suggest that at the level of the Committee, only two Ministries had to come back \u2013 the Special Development Initiative Ministry and Business Development Ministry &#8211; all others came just once and on all occasions, the GH\u00a2800,000 was there and they stood by it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was only when this issue was raised that [the figures were changed], it is clearly an afterthought,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p><!-- uploaded by: 63 updated by: 63 --><\/p>\n<p><!-- Start of html generated by this->footer() -->\n<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>General News of Sunday, 24 December 2017 Source: Myjoyonline.com 2017-12-24 play videoAbdul Malik Kweku Baako Editor-in-chief of the New Crusading Guide Newspaper, says the Finance Committee of Parliament did not do a thorough job at scrutinizing the budget of the Special Development Initiatives Ministry.
