Ayine"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div id=\"medsection1\">\n<!-- End of html generated by this->header() --><\/p>\n<p class=\"floatLeft\">General News of Saturday, 23 December 2017<\/p>\n<p class=\"floatRight\"><strong>Source: <\/strong>Myjoyonline.com <\/p>\n<p>2017-12-23<\/p>\n<div class=\"article-left\">\n<p class=\"article-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/37999125.295.jpg\" alt=\"Dominic Ayineeee\" title=\"Dominic Ayineeee\" width=\"295\" height=\"167\" \/><span class=\"image_caption\"><span>Former Deputy Attorney General, Dominic Ayine<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"noPrint\">\n<div id=\"537626303\" style=\"width:300;height:250;margin:0;padding:0\">\n<p>\t\t  <noscript><iframe loading=\"lazy\" id=\"b2ad7fa7fd\" name=\"b2ad7fa7fd\" src=\"http:\/\/ghanaweb-d.openx.net\/w\/1.0\/afr?auid=537626303&amp;cb=151125817929577\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" width=\"300\" height=\"250\"><a href=\"\/\/ghanaweb-d.openx.net\/w\/1.0\/rc?cs=b2ad7fa7fd&amp;cb=151125817929577\"><\/p>\n<p>\t\t  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/1514030625_650_ai\" border=\"0\" alt=\"\" \/><\/a><\/iframe><\/noscript><\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"clear:right\">A former Deputy Attorney General in the John Mahama administration has cast a damning verdict on the government\u2019s fight against corruption.<\/p>\n<p>Dominic Ayine says the Nana Akufo-Addo government has \u201cfailed abysmally\u201d in the fight against corruption.<\/p>\n<p>If anything, he said the government has only concentrated on \u201cpolitical corruption\u201d with special interest on former government appointees to the detriment of massive corruption in the civil service.<\/p>\n<p>He was speaking on Joy FM\u2019s news analysis programme Newsfile on the controversial issue of corruption and government\u2019s approach to dealing with it.<\/p>\n<p>Dominic Ayine said the corruption that goes on in political offices is peanuts as compared to the massive corruption that goes on in the civil service yet the NPP government has turned a blind eye to many of the corruption cases recorded in its first year.<\/p>\n<p>He said there have been allegations of corruption similar to those in the previous government yet \u201cthis president has not taken the necessary steps to ensure perpetrators are brought to court.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Dominic Ayine named the controversial BOST scandal in which 5 million litres of oil was said to have been contaminated.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, there was no indication of police involvement, nothing to show \u201cthe BNI did a thorough job on the matter\u201d but the scandal has been shelved.<\/p>\n<p>The former Deputy AG also raised issues with the government\u2019s fight against armyworms and suggested something untoward may have happened.<\/p>\n<p>He said whilst the Agric Minister admitted to spending \u00a28.4 million on \u201ccreation of awareness\u201d there was no evidence about nature of the awareness created.<\/p>\n<p>He said if something of that nature had happened under the Mahama administration, civil society would have asked questions about alleged corruption.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am grossly dissatisfied with the approach, if there is any approach at all, in the investigation of corruption,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><b>Executive Brick wall<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Contributing to the issue, a private legal practitioner Ace Ankomah says &#8220;the cost of corruption to us as a country is phenomenal,&#8221;
