K. Ofosu debunked the media reports and stated that the \u201cRector voluntarily notified his management team and the Chairman of Council of his intention to take part of his annual leave from Wednesday, 27th December, 2017 and to resume duty on Thursday, 1st February 2018\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><b>Below is the rejoinder in full<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The Editor (Ghanaweb.com); The Editor, Starrfmonline The Editor, Classfmonline REJOINDER<\/p>\n<p>1. Re: GIJ RECTOR ASKED TO PROCEED ON LEAVE<\/p>\n<p>2. Re: GIJ RECTOR UNDER PROBE OVER PROCUREMENT INFRACTIONS<\/p>\n<p>The attention of the Ghana Institute of Journalism has been drawn to two news items carried on Ghanaweb thus: \u201cThe Rector of GIJ Asked to Proceed on Leave\u201d and \u201cGIJ rector Under Probe for Procurement Infractions\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>These stories are incorrect and does not represent the position of Council. Rather, Dr. Wilberforce Dzisah, the Rector voluntarily notified his management team and the Chairman of Council of his intention to take part of his annual leave from Wednesday, 27th December, 2017 and to resume duty on Thursday, 1st February, 2018. This, in his view is to allow for a smooth investigation of some concerns raised including academic integrity and procurement practices.<\/p>\n<p>It must also be noted that, nowhere in the statement setting-up an investigative committee was the Rector accused of indulging in procurement infractions or academic dishonesty.
