Unfair Trade Practices such as the dumping of cheap and poor quality imported goods in Ghana which hurt the businesses of expats in Ghana will soon be a thing of the past, President Akufo-Addo has assured.<\/p>\n

Addressing\u00a0 the Ghanaian\u00a0 Expatriate business\u00a0 community\u00a0 at the first ever Expatriate\u00a0 Business Awards ceremony held at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra,\u00a0 Mr. Akufo-Addo said he will soon inaugurate a five-member governing board of the Ghana International\u00a0 Trade Commission (GITC) which will be taxed to introduce \u00a0strict countervailing and anti-dumping measures to protect the\u00a0 investments of the Expatriate business community.<\/p>\n

Trade and<\/strong> Industry Minister<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Minister of Trade and Industry Alan Kyeremanten, under who supervision the awards ceremony has been instituted said President Akufo-Addo directed the Institutionalization of The award scheme to acknowledge the immense\u00a0 contribution of Expatriates and orient Expatriates towards the country\u2019s economic\u00a0 development.<\/p>\n

He assured that the Akufo-Addo\u00a0 administration will continue\u00a0 to pursue measures that will inure to the benefit of the Private Sector including the Expatriate business community.<\/p>\n

The Awards<\/strong><\/p>\n

The awards had some twenty three (23) categories with some 227 companies Shortlisted as nominees. The Categories\u00a0 included Agriculture & Agri-Business,\u00a0 Aviation,\u00a0 Oil & Gas,\u00a0 Mining,\u00a0 Building & Construction,\u00a0 Banking & Finance, Information,\u00a0 Communication & Technology,\u00a0 Automotive,\u00a0 Retail,\u00a0 Exports,\u00a0 Service amongst others.<\/p>\n

Rana Motors,\u00a0 Tullow,\u00a0 KLM,\u00a0 M&G Pharmaceuticals,\u00a0 Goldfields,\u00a0 Kumesh Ghana, Unilever,\u00a0 Barbisotti,\u00a0 Standard Chartered,\u00a0 Zenith Bank,\u00a0 Nestle Ghana,\u00a0 Interplast,\u00a0 MTN,\u00a0 Japan Motors, Maxmart,\u00a0 Printex, Whittaker & Co were among the Nominees shortlisted for the maiden Expatriate business awards.<\/p>\n
