{"id":432359,"date":"2017-10-31T01:34:15","date_gmt":"2017-10-31T01:34:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/10\/31\/kenyatta-re-elected-in-disputed-poll\/"},"modified":"2017-10-31T01:34:15","modified_gmt":"2017-10-31T01:34:15","slug":"kenyatta-re-elected-in-disputed-poll","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/10\/31\/kenyatta-re-elected-in-disputed-poll\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenyatta re-elected in disputed poll"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has been declared winner of a controversial re-run of the presidential election.<\/p>\n<p>He won 98% of the vote with turnout at just under 39% \u2013 less than half that recorded in August\u2019s vote, according to the election commission.<\/p>\n<p>The opposition leader, Raila Odinga, pulled out of the re-run and urged his supporters to boycott it.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Kenyatta was also declared the winner in the August vote, which was annulled because of \u201cirregularities\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The unprecedented decision from the Supreme Court cancelling the result did not attribute any blame to President Kenyatta\u2019s party or campaign.<\/p>\n<p>The re-run was suspended in 25 constituencies which are all opposition strongholds amid security fears.
