{"id":425685,"date":"2017-10-05T19:04:08","date_gmt":"2017-10-05T19:04:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/10\/05\/social-media-claims-of-contamination-of-products-baseless-pepsi\/"},"modified":"2017-10-05T19:04:08","modified_gmt":"2017-10-05T19:04:08","slug":"social-media-claims-of-contamination-of-products-baseless-pepsi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/10\/05\/social-media-claims-of-contamination-of-products-baseless-pepsi\/","title":{"rendered":"Social media claims of contamination of products baseless \u2013 Pepsi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Renowned global beverage manufacturer\u00a0Pepsi Ghana says a discredited social media post claiming some of its products have been contaminated is baseless and mischievous.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A cursory look at the post, Pepsi says, indicates to even the most casual observer that it lacks credibility and is impracticable.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A post on social media whose origins have not been ascertained has claimed that some of Pepsi\u2019s beverages have been contaminated by a staff.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/1002554\/Myjoyonline.com_InArticle_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>The post bears all the marks of fake news which is a major concern for governments in the developed world.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pepsi says it ordinarily would have ignored the falsehood and plain fabrications contained in the post but for the fact that some of its well-wishers and cherished customers have expressed concern that a few unsuspecting consumers may be deceived.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Georgina Pomaa Agyei, HR Manager, Pepsi Ghana, told journalists she was concerned the obvious and palpable fabrication was being shared on social media.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As an internationally recognised brand, she said, Pepsi produces its beverages in strict compliance with the quality control standards of its parent company, PepsiCo founded in the United States in 1898.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She said it is practically impossible for humans to contaminate the drink in the manner claimed by the fabricated social media post.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The conditions under which Pepsi is produced, she emphasised, do not lend themselves to such contamination.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>This is the reason the company in its almost 120-year history, has not recorded any contamination of any of its food and beverages produced for millions of people across the world, the HR Manager pointed out.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Georgina Agyei said Ghana\u2019s regulatory authorities such as the Food and Drugs Authority regularly visits the company\u2019s manufacturing plants to certify that they are producing under proper conditions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>No breaches, she maintained, has ever been found by any of these institutions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Moreso, the kind of contamination being claimed in the post is only possible in blood-to-blood infection and cannot be possible through liquids such as carbonated drinks.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>According to her, Pepsi&#8217;s reputation as a socially responsible company transacting business in a responsible manner is not in doubt.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She said the post should, therefore, be treated with the contempt that it deserves since it is nothing but a malicious, false post by faceless people.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the company is together with the International Police Organisation, Interpol, looking into the motivation for the false and malicious post.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Renowned global beverage manufacturer\u00a0Pepsi Ghana says a discredited social media post claiming some of its products have been contaminated is baseless and mischievous.\u00a0 A cursory look at the post, Pepsi says, indicates to even the most casual observer that it lacks credibility and is impracticable.\u00a0 A post on social media whose origins have not been [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":0,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-425685","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","category-business"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v28.8 -
