{"id":425395,"date":"2017-10-04T23:32:13","date_gmt":"2017-10-04T23:32:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/10\/04\/bagbin-begs-akufo-addo-adomonline-com\/"},"modified":"2017-10-04T23:32:13","modified_gmt":"2017-10-04T23:32:13","slug":"bagbin-begs-akufo-addo-adomonline-com","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/10\/04\/bagbin-begs-akufo-addo-adomonline-com\/","title":{"rendered":"Bagbin begs Akufo-Addo &#8211; AdomOnline.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<div class=\"td-post-featured-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.adomonline.com\/ghana-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/04\/BAGBIN.jpg\" data-caption=\"\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"696\" height=\"402\" class=\"entry-thumb td-modal-image\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/xBAGBIN-696x402.jpg.pagespeed.ic.gzbm8GBN40.jpg\" alt=\"\" title=\"BAGBIN\"\/><\/a><\/div>\n<p>Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kinsford Bagbin has bemoaned the high attrition rate of ministers at the Ministry of Works and Housing.<\/p>\n<p>Contributing to a statement by the Minister, Samuel Atta Akyea, on the occasion of the World Habitat Day on the floor of Parliament on Wednesday, Mr Bagbin said there is the need for the minister assigned to the sector to be given adequate time in order to work on a comprehensive plan of the housing profile of the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr Speaker, I want to plead with His Excellency the president to give the current minister time at the ministry to be able to follow through not just the strategic thinking but the development, planning and implementation of what has been decided,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said he spent a longer time at the Ministry but there is the need for a sanitisation of that ministry.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Works &amp; Housing\u2019 Vrs \u2018Housing &amp; Planning\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Mr Bagbin said the combination of works and housing into one ministry creates confusion among stakeholders in the sector.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHousing will have to go with development not works,\u201d he said. \u201c[since] it results in a struggle between stakeholders because works cut across to roads\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will prefer \u2018Housing and Planning\u2019 not \u2018Works and Housing\u2019,\u201d he suggested. \u201cBut Mr Speaker that is a matter of policy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut it is a ministry so critical that we need to focus on that sector.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u2018Low-cost\u2019 Vrs \u2018Affordable\u2019<\/p>\n<p>He also suggested a change from the term affordable housing to low-cost housing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will prefer low-cost housing to affordable housing,\u201d he noted, citing how the late Dr Kofi Abrefa Busia used that term and it worked for him in his rural development programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you are talking about low-cost housing, it made a great impact in the rural areas.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kinsford Bagbin has bemoaned the high attrition rate of ministers at the Ministry of Works and Housing.
