{"id":424400,"date":"2017-10-02T17:09:36","date_gmt":"2017-10-02T17:09:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/10\/02\/kweku-awotwi-appointed-board-chair-of-volta-river-authority\/"},"modified":"2017-10-02T17:09:36","modified_gmt":"2017-10-02T17:09:36","slug":"kweku-awotwi-appointed-board-chair-of-volta-river-authority","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/10\/02\/kweku-awotwi-appointed-board-chair-of-volta-river-authority\/","title":{"rendered":"Kweku Awotwi appointed board chair of Volta River Authority"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Kweku Awotwi has been appointed\u00a0chairman of the reconstituted board of the Volta River Authority (VRA).<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Awotwi a former Chief Executive Officer of VRA is expected to lead the restructuring of the Authority.<\/p>\n<p>Inaugurating the board, Deputy Energy Minister, William Owuraku Aidoo charged the 8-member board to bring to bear their expertise to fast track VRA\u2019s restructuring and to position it as a leader in the West African region when it comes to power generation.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/1002554\/Myjoyonline.com_InArticle_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>Speaking to JOYBUSINESS after the inauguration, Kweku Awotwi said he plans to focus on dealing with the current financial challenges facing VRA as well as the thermal problems.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cThe finances of the authority have to be the highest priority but the government as you probably know has already started thinking of footing a bond.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe energy sector levy would be used to secure that, but the financial health of the VRA has to be the top priority,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>On VRA thermal issues,\u00a0Mr. Awotwi said, \u201cThe next issue or equally important issue is the invitation of\u00a0private sector players into the thermal asset which is also something that has been talked about for many years.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Other members of the board include;\u00a0\u00a0former Chief Executive of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Joyce Aryee, Omanhene of the\u00a0\u00a0Essikado Traditional Area , Nana\u00a0\u00a0Kobina Nketia -V, Acting\u00a0<i>Chief Executive of VRA<\/i>\u00a0,\u00a0Emmanuel\u00a0<i>Antwi<\/i>-Darkwa and Richard Obeng Okrah.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Kweku Awotwi has been appointed\u00a0chairman of the reconstituted board of the Volta River Authority (VRA).
