It is the first such joint venture proposed in Ghana&#8217;s highly competitive telecom sector.<\/p>\n<p>Put together, the new entity would become Ghana&#8217;s second largest mobile operator serving around 10 million subscribers with revenues close to $300 million.<\/p>\n<p><!-- \/1002554\/Myjoyonline.com_InArticle_300x250 --><\/p>\n<p>South Africa\u2019s MTN\u00a0is leading mobile operator in Ghana, followed by Britain&#8217;s <span style=\"font-family:inherit\"><span style=\"font-family:inherit\">Vodafone.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0Others are Globacom of Nigeria and Sudan\u2019s Sudatel Expresso.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Kindly note that on Thursday, Sept. 14, we received a conditional approval from the National Communications Authority on the planned Tigo Ghana and Airtel Ghana merger,&#8221; according to a notice to Airtel and Tigo employees seen by Reuters.<\/p>\n<p>It did not provide details of the conditions set in the approval but added that further information would be shared once discussion around the approval is closed.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Communications Authority (NCA) has granted conditional approval for a merger between the local operations of Millicom&#8217;s Tigo and Bharti Airtel, a notice to employees of the subsidiaries said.
