{"id":419594,"date":"2017-09-18T10:48:32","date_gmt":"2017-09-18T10:48:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/09\/18\/akufo-addo-wants-to-bury-nkrumah-and-highlight-jb-danquah-koku\/"},"modified":"2017-09-18T10:48:32","modified_gmt":"2017-09-18T10:48:32","slug":"akufo-addo-wants-to-bury-nkrumah-and-highlight-jb-danquah-koku","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/09\/18\/akufo-addo-wants-to-bury-nkrumah-and-highlight-jb-danquah-koku\/","title":{"rendered":"Akufo Addo wants to bury Nkrumah and highlight JB Danquah \u2013 Koku"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/ghanamma.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/KOKU-AYIDOHO.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"mashsb-container mashsb-main mashsb-stretched\"> <\/aside>\n<p>Deputy General Secretary of the opposition, NDC party Koku Anyidoho has accused President Akufo Addo of trying to change Ghana\u2019s history albeit in vain and bury the memory of Dr Kwame Nkrumah and rather raise that of his uncle J.B Danquah, following his proposal to Parliament to designate 4th August as Founders day, and 21st September as Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0statement from the Presidency and signed by the Director of Communications at the presidency, Mr Eugene Arhin on Sundy said\u00a0the President has to this end issued an Executive Instrument to commemorate this year\u2019s celebration of KWAME NKRUMAH MEMORIAL DAY as a public holiday.<\/p>\n<p>Following the development, 21st September, which previously was marked as Founders Day will now be celebrated as Nkrumah Memorial Day in honour of Ghana\u2019s first president Dr Kwame Nkrumah, the statement noted.<\/p>\n<p>But speaking to Fiifi Banson on Anopa Kasapa on <em>Kasapa FM,<\/em> Koku Anyidoho slammed the President\u2019s action describing it as needless, adding that \u201cif we\u2019re not careful we\u2019ll start orbiting in the realms of absurdity.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe\u2019re talking about those who founded Ghana and the President in his speech on Independence day in March went as far as talking about the Aborigenes Right Protection Council. If we go this way we may soon start obiting in the realms of absurdity. Then we must as well name Corporal Attipoe, Seargent Adjetey, Nii Kwabena Bonney and the rest as part of the founders of Ghana. Why are we do this to ourselves as a country? We\u2019re talking about Ghana\u2019s independence, who led that fight and struggle for that gave us independence on 6th March 1957. Where was J.B Danquah, Ako Adjei and the rest, why were they not at the polo grounds where independence was declared?
