{"id":419307,"date":"2017-09-17T08:21:45","date_gmt":"2017-09-17T08:21:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ghana-mma.com\/2017\/09\/17\/us-denies-it-will-stay-in-accord\/"},"modified":"2017-09-17T08:21:45","modified_gmt":"2017-09-17T08:21:45","slug":"us-denies-it-will-stay-in-accord","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/2017\/09\/17\/us-denies-it-will-stay-in-accord\/","title":{"rendered":"US denies it will stay in accord"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<aside class=\"mashsb-container mashsb-main mashsb-stretched\"> <\/aside>\n<p class=\"story-body__introduction\">The US has insisted it will leave the Paris climate accord, despite reports that it may be softening its stance.<\/p>\n<p>Following a meeting of environment ministers on Saturday, the EU climate commissioner, Miguel Arias Canete, said Trump officials had indicated the US would either stay in the 2015 accord or review its terms.<\/p>\n<p>But the White House insisted there had been \u201cno change\u201d in the US position.<\/p>\n<p>In June President Donald Trump said the US would withdraw from the deal<\/p>\n<p>He said it was part of his \u201csolemn duty to protect America\u201d and he would seek a new deal that would not disadvantage US businesses.<\/p>\n<p>But opponents say withdrawing from the accord is an abdication of US leadership on a key global challenge.<\/p>\n<p>The Paris agreement commits the US and 187 other countries to keeping rising global temperatures \u201cwell below\u201d 2C above pre-industrial levels and \u201cendeavour to limit\u201d them even more, to 1.5C.<\/p>\n<p>Only Syria and Nicaragua did not sign up to the deal.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a style=\"display:none\" rel=\"follow\" href=\"http:\/\/megatheme.ir\/\" title=\"\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633\">\u0642\u0627\u0644\u0628 \u0648\u0631\u062f\u067e\u0631\u0633<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The US has insisted it will leave the Paris climate accord, despite reports that it may be softening its stance.
